Artist, curator, art theorist, and rector of the Joseph Backstein Institute of Contemporary Art. Stanislav Shuripa was born in 1971 in Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. Lives and works in Paris. Graduated from the University of Art History (1999) and completed the "New Artistic Strategies" course at the Institute of Contemporary Art (2002). From 2002 to 2004, he studied at the Valand School of Art, University of Gothenburg (Sweden). He received a Master of Arts degree. His solo exhibitions include "Formula of the Empire Monument" at the Gothenburg Museum of Art (Sweden, 2010). In 2013, he participated in the 5th Moscow Biennale of Contemporary Art, and in 2014, he participated in the Manifesta 10 Biennale in St. Petersburg.
